Rodos and Dodekanis

RHODES

Rhodes entered the digit of the most visited Greek islands not by chance. The point is not only in great number of wonderful sandy beaches but also in his surprising capital the center of which is a beautiful and very well saved medieval city, reservation of crusaders. Rhodes was the main bulwark of knights of Order of Saint John. It is necessary to warn that in a season Rhodes packed with tourists to failure, he is visited by two million tourists in a year, and constantly on an island lives 110000 habitants among that there are very much foreigners. The main on an island is certainly the Old city of Rhodes, which is its medieval part. But also all other sights are worthy of attention. The second place legally occupies Lindos - it is both an ancient acropolis and pleasant small town. You should also visit south-east beaches near Afandu and Endau, the remote monuments of history, for example locks at Monolistosa and Critinnia, and churches with wonderful frescos in Tarri and Asclepius. Those who hankering after adrenalin are concentrating on the southern cape ofthe island - Prasonisi–is one of the best surfing centers in Europe.  An influence of conquerors and of other nationalities of his inhabiting is very strong on Rhodes. If you move from Palace of Great master's Degrees southward, you will meet the mosque of Suleiman, recently repaired, ferruginous color, on the contrary the Ottoman library with collection of ottoman manuscripts and Korans, and the similarly impressive Turkish bath-house(operating and until now) Mustafa Hamm. Passing Via of Tourist (tourist street packed with furs and valuables) on Odos Aristotelos you will come to an area Evrion –Martiron (area of the Jewish martyrs) – here is the monument to the martyr of large Jewish community of Rhodes, that practically was fully destroyed by Germans in 1944. Black granite colon is a monument to victims. In the nearby Jewish quarter survived only one of four synagogues - richly decorated Cal Caddish Shalom. The separate remains of hellenism Rhodes you will find on a south-west from Mandraki - here is the restored ancient stadium and the  theatre add  beach entertainment, aquarium, aqua-parks , delicious taverns and rest, will turn out unforgettable.

COS

Cos is the second island in value and by number of tourists after Rodos among the Southen Sporade Islands so probably both islands seem to have something similar. There is also a habour which poses on a majestic fortress Knights-Knights on these islands. Streets are lined with magnificent buildings erected during Italian conquering pioneer. There are Greek and Roman Antiquities and ruins, alternating with slender minarets and palm trees.  However the central part of the island can’t boast of the same Virgin beauty as in Rhodes, Cos features distinguishes the abundance of groundwater, and consequently lands fertility, the most generous on the entire archipelago Sporadic.

Developed here mass tourism has prompted the locals to abandon traditional agriculture in favor of the development of tourist destinations. Though the travel industry is still oddly combined with cows on the meadows and tanks cavities around the airport. Despite all this, Cos still worth spending a few days. Here you will see the beautiful mountain villages, there's a great tour. Infrastructure (for example, not only good roads and developed public transportation, but bike paths ...), and endless opportunities for bathing — almost half of the shoreline is sandy and pebble beaches. Kos town itself owes its charm to archaeological excavations and monuments of the middle ages which scatter in a sufficient number.
